Viola and electro with Atsushi Sakai and Marion Martineau
The Hôtel de la Marine is renewing its collaboration with artistic coordinator Atsushi Sakai, who left his mark on last year's Nuit Blanche. This year he will be accompanied by musicians Marion Martineau and Robin Pharo. Together, they will offer an eclectic musical repertoire that will resonate right through the heart of the Cour d'Honneur.
The programme is based on an encounter between the immersive sound of a viola da gamba consort and Lynn Cassiers, a UFO of electro singing. The result is an improbable, unstable and spellbinding musical universe that creates a powerful sensory and emotional whirlwind.
A concert for the eyes: the Ocular Harpsichord
Under the diamond-shaped glass roof of the Intendant's courtyard, you can discover a musical and visual performance based on the ocular harpsichord, a crazy invention of Father Castel's in the 18th century. Can you see music? Hear the colours?
Harpsichordist Alessio Zanfardino, accompanied by François Longo on lighting and sound design, will present for the first time a performance written as a tribute to the scientific, aesthetic and philosophical research of this singular man, who dreamt of "music for the eyes". A kind of ideal instrument of the Enlightenment, halfway between dream and reality, his ocular harpsichord was of particular interest to Rameau, Diderot and Voltaire.
