Action aimed at the public in the social field

The Centre des monuments nationaux has made the opening up and appropriation of the network's sites by all sections of the public a priority of its cultural policy. As a member of the Mission Vivre-Ensemble, the CMN implements the Charte d'accueil des publics du champ social at all the sites in the network.

Within this framework, the Centre des monuments nationaux is working with the Aurore association to make the Hôtel de la Marine more accessible to people supported by the association and considered to be distant from cultural venues because of the social difficulties they encounter.

This partnership involves the organisation of free guided tours and workshops at the Hôtel de la Marine. The people supported by the association were able to take part in a total of 12 tours in 2023, and will be able to enjoy a further 12 tours and workshops in 2024, including watercolour workshops in the 19th-century ceremonial rooms and guided tours of the 18th-century intendants' flats.

The Aurore Association

Founded in 1871, the Aurore association provides accommodation, care and social and professional integration to people in precarious situations or excluded from society, helping them to become self-sufficient. In 2022, the association helped almost 147,000 people. Aurore has been recognised as a charitable organisation since 1875, and draws on its experience to propose and experiment with innovative forms of care that adapt to the changing nature of precariousness and exclusion.

The association works in partnership with the State, local authorities, regions, départements and communes. It maintains an ongoing dialogue with the authorities that fund its initiatives, in line with the needs identified in the areas in which it operates. Aurore operates mainly in the Île-de-France region and in 8 other regions (Bretagne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Centre-Val de Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France and Pays-de-la-Loire).
