Accessibility

The Hôtel de la Marine is accessible for everyone. Free priority entry is possible for anyone with disabilities on presentation of a supporting document and an accompanying minder. On site, a kiosk and an automatic distributor specially designed for all visitors are available at the ticket office, in the Intendant’s courtyard. For greater comfort, you can book the time and date of your visit online.

The Hôtel de la Marine offers devices specially designed for everyone:

Visitors with reduced mobility

The visitor circuits are designed for visitors in wheelchairs too (wheelchairs are available for loan on site).

Blind or visually impaired visitors

In line with legislation, guide dogs are allowed into the monument.

A visitor circuit with audio description is available.

Deaf or partially deaf visitors

A web application, available for free without download for smartphones or on tablets (tablets are available for loan at the ticket office and Wi-Fi is available throughout the monument), includes content in sign language for deaf visitors who communicate through sign language. Most of the videos in the application are subtitled and transcriptions of interviews are available.

Anyone with a disability is allowed into the monument with an accompanying minder for free.

Buying tickets

1.  Go to the online ticket office

2.  Select ‘Buy a ticket to visit the Hôtel de la Marine’

3. Choose your visitor circuit (Grand Tour or Reception Rooms & Loggia)

4.  Choose the time and date of your visit

5.  On the day of your visit, go to the Hôtel de la Marine at the chosen time and present yourself in the Intendant’s courtyard to pick up The Confidant, a connected headset that will guide you throughout your visit.

We recommend you buy your ticket online in advance here to book the time and day of your visit.

Tickets are sold on site for visits on the same day of purchase in accordance with the number of daily places still available.

People entitled to free entry are invited to book the timeslot of their visit online. In such cases, you can select the type of free entry when choosing the rate (you will always be asked for a supporting document on site). Remember: If you fail to produce the aforementioned supporting document you will have to pay for the ticket on site.

A ticket bought online is only valid for the chosen visit, date and time.

With your ticket, you can pick up The Confidant, a connected headset that will guide you throughout your visit, without going via the till, but your ticket bought online does not entitle you to a fast track through the security-check queues or the queues for picking up The Confidant during busy periods.

All visits take place in a clearly defined time slot to avoid long queues and to make sure our visitors enjoy optimal comfort when visiting the monument. Your entry ticket therefore ensures your entrance at a precise time without you having to go via the till.

You can go straight to the monument to buy a ticket but you might be refused entry if all places have been sold. We therefore recommend choosing another timeslot and date.

When you buy a ticket, you have to book it for a certain time and date for your visit. These criteria cannot be changed once your purchase has been validated. Take the time to properly read the overview of your basket before validating the order and paying for it.

Once you have confirmed your purchase, the ticket cannot be swapped, changed or reimbursed.

The general conditions of sale that bind you stipulate that the ticket is exclusively valid for the visit, date and time stated.

No, but your entry ticket is valid for entering the monument within the 15 minutes following the stated time. It is important to respect the timeslot you choose when booking.

All exits from the monument are definitive. You cannot go back inside the visit areas several times with the same entry ticket. Entry tickets are single-use passes.

However, you can enter areas open to the public without a ticket. These areas include the book and gift shop, the restaurant, the café and the bar, as well as the court of honour.

You can print your ticket or show it on your smartphone.

Remember: A gift ticket or pass ticket for the Hôtel de la Marine should be swapped for a ticket showing a time and date via our website, or on site at the till or through the automatic distributors.

For all online bookings, you receive an e-mail with the tickets attached.

You can find your purchased tickets again by signing into your account via this link then going to the section ‘My orders’. If you still cannot find your tickets, your payment may have been refused.

Would you like to switch from the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit to the Grand Tour circuit?

You can make the switch at the till but you will have to pay for the difference in price. For example, if the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit costs €13 and the Grand Tour circuit costs €17, you will have to pay a €4 supplement.

Would you like to switch from the Grand Tour circuit to the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit?

You can make this change on site at the till, but, pursuant to the general conditions of sale, you will not be entitled to a reimbursement of the price difference.

Remember that the Grand Tour circuit includes the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit anyway.

Would you like to change the theme of your visit for your Grand Tour ticket?

You can make this change on site when you pick up The Confidant. State your chosen new theme to the assistant so that they reconfigure the headset.

For example, if you have a Grand Tour ticket with the audio experience for The Age of Enlightenment, you can swap it on the day concerned for the audio experience for Travelling Through Time.

Similarly, you can change your chosen language for the visit.

Find out about all our audio visits here.

Would you like to go on the Grand Tour circuit but have a gift ticket or pass ticket for the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit?

You can change your visit online, at the till or at the automatic distributor when you swap it for a ticket showing a time and date.

For example, if the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit costs €13 and the Grand Tour circuit costs €17, you will have to pay a €4 supplement.

Free entry is possible for the following categories of visitors every day (except days when the monument is closed):

You will always be asked for a supporting document that is still valid at the time. If you fail to produce the aforementioned supporting document you will have to pay for the ticket on site. The full list of acceptable supporting documents is available here.

People enjoying free entry are invited to book their visitor timeslot online and select the free entry option when they choose the rate.

All entries require a ticket, which is issued for free if you are entitled to free entry.

People entitled to free entry:

- Person aged under 18 years (with a family, outside of school groups)

- Person aged 18–25 years (citizen of an EU member state or regular non-European resident in France)

- Person with a disability and their accompanying minder

- Job seeker (on presentation of proof of entitlement dated within the last six months)

- Holder of a ‘Pass Education’ card (still valid at the time)

- Member of ‘Passion monuments’, the annual membership scheme of the Centre des monuments nationaux (on presentation of a ‘Passion monuments’ card still valid at the time)

Read the full list of free entry options and supporting documents required here.

The Hôtel de la Marine does not offer reductions. You can read the list of groups of people entitled to free entry here.

In general, Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days outside of school holidays. The late-night opening (until 10.00pm) on Fridays is a special moment to savour.

Good to know: The Hôtel de la Marine is open on Mondays and Tuesdays, contrary to some museums in Paris.

With the annual Passion monuments membership card, you can enjoy unlimited visits to around 100 outstanding monuments throughout France, including the Hôtel de la Marine, for 45 euros per year. Find out about all the Passion monuments advantages here.

Holders of the Passions monuments card can enjoy free entry to the Hôtel de la Marine if they have booked a timeslot. For greater comfort, we advise you to book your timeslot online by selecting the rate for ‘Passion monuments Member’. Please note that when you pick up The Confidant, a connected headset for an immersive visit, you will always be asked to show a Passions monuments card still valid at the time.

You can also pick up a free entry ticket (at the till or through the automatic terminals), if there are places still available.

The Paris Museum Pass grants free access to the Reception Rooms & Loggia circuit (45-minute visit).

Each person with a Paris Museum Pass should present themselves on site, at the Hôtel de la Marine ticket office (Intendant’s courtyard), to set the timeslot of their visit. Towards the end of the day, they may be refused entry if all places have been sold.

Please note that a quota of places is reserved for holders of the Paris Museum Pass for each timeslot.

Furthermore, the visit to the Hôtel de la Marine should take place during the period of validity of the Paris Museum Pass.

Remember: The Paris Museum Pass does not grant access to the Grand Tour or to guided tours, workshops or temporary exhibitions. You cannot buy a Paris Museum Pass at the Hôtel de la Marine.

The gift ticket should be exchanged (online, at the ticket office or through the automatic distributors) for a ticket showing a time and date.

Select ‘Use a Hôtel de la Marine gift ticket’. Enter the code of your gift ticket and choose the circuit, time and day of your visit. Go to the Hôtel de la Marine on the chosen day, in the Intendant’s courtyard, to pick up The Confidant, a connected headset for an immersive visit.

The gift ticket is valid for one year from the purchase date

The pass ticket should be exchanged (online, at the ticket office or through the automatic distributors) for a ticket showing a time and date.

Select ‘Use a Hôtel de la Marine pass ticket’. Enter the code of your pass ticket and choose the circuit, time and day of your visit. Go to the Hôtel de la Marine on the chosen day, in the Intendant’s courtyard, to pick up The Confidant, a connected headset for an immersive visit.

On site: cash, French bank drafts and bank cards (Visa, Eurocard-Mastercard, American Express) are accepted.

On the online ticket office or at the automatic distributors: only payments by bank card (Visa, Mastercard, E-carte Bleue, EMV, JCB or American Express) are possible.
